This is a temporary, paid internship eligible for educational credit. This internship runs from September - December with the potential to renew for the following semester.

Fire Protection Team (FPT) has been a trusted organization in life and fire safety solutions since 1929. FPT technicians inspect, test, service, troubleshoot, and repair fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and fire suppression systems. The organization is growing and eager to add new roles to our team in order to facilitate that growth.
Job Summary
The Human Resources Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. This internship provides exposure to recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, HR administration, and special projects while developing practical skills in a professional business environment. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, eager to learn, and interested in building a career in Human Resources.
Duties
- Assist with scanning, filing, organizing, and auditing HR documents and employee files.
- Support weekly timecard review, payroll preparation, insurance invoice reconciliation, and monthly union remittance tasks.
- Assist with preparing leave paperwork, assembling employee leave packets, and tracking leave usage as directed.
- Support employee engagement events and initiatives, including wellness activities, volunteer opportunities, holiday-themed activities, office celebrations, and employee communications.
- Help create and update employee communications, intranet articles, marketing materials, birthday cards, and engagement displays.
- Assist with compliance-related tracking, including training, certifications, OSHA-related records, employee licenses, and other required documentation.
- Support HR process improvements, form updates, template maintenance, and other special projects as assigned.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling employee information and HR documentation.
Qualifications
- Current students pursuing bachelors-level coursework with a concentration in Human Resources preferred.
- Interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Strong writing skills.
- Professional communication skills and willingness to learn in a business environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to manage time effectively, follow instructions, and complete assigned tasks reliably.
- Creativity and eagerness to craft employee-focused activities and programming.
