Job Overview The SGO currently has an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced Human Resources Generalist. We are looking for an individual to bring their passion and excitement to our fast-paced and ever-changing environment. The successful incumbent will be highly detail oriented and organized, demonstrate a sense of urgency and enthusiasm for addressing employee needs, and communicate in a collaborative manner, all while managing multiple projects simultaneously. They will see the big picture and embrace change to ensure they meet their goals and the goals of the SGO and FWC.
The HR Generalist is responsible for leading all aspects of human resources with a heavy focus on employee relations and culture building initiatives. Responsibilities also include performance management, compensation and benefits, staff development, HR compliance, and recruiting. This role will foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, support employee engagement and wellbeing, implement training and recognition programs, manage HR administration and policies, and ensure adherence to labor laws. The HR Generalist will collaborate closely with leadership to attract, retain, and develop talent while promoting organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction. The HR Generalist will personify the SGO/Foundation internal values of Service Excellence, Respect, Accountability and Quality.
What You Will Do EMPLOYEE RELATIONS AND WELLBEING – Build strong relationships between employees and the organization by addressing concerns and resolving conflicts in compliance with laws and policies, involving the CEO and HR consultants as needed for high-level employee issues. Work with the CEO and Sr. Director, Finance & Administration to design systems to foster a positive and productive work environment. Create a supportive work environment through coaching, employee development, performance management, and transparent communication. Develop, implement, and manage initiatives that promote the overall well-being of employees, including physical and mental health, and provide access to healthcare and wellness programs.
HR ADMINISTRATION AND COMPLIANCE - Manage relationship with PEO. Manage employee files. Oversee the development, updating, and tracking of job descriptions. Manage surveys that solicit employee feedback and develop policies and programs in response to feedback. Stay informed of changing labor laws and regulations to ensure organizational policies comply, including regulations related to discrimination and harassment. Manage annual compliance training initiatives. Ensure the Employee Handbook reflects current labor law requirements. Communicate updates.
PERFOMANCE MANAGEMENT - Develop and administer the performance appraisal and process. Support managers and employees throughout the review process, providing feedback and assistance in goal setting. Support managers in addressing performance issues. Establish timelines, develop tools, track deliverables, and save completed forms in employee files. Develop and implement a plan to measure and track SMART goals.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS - Collaborate with the CEO and external consultants to develop and administer competitive compensation plans and practices, including market analysis. Ensure fair and equitable pay practices. Work with the organization’s PEO to manage employee benefits, including plan design review, open enrollment, onboarding, and offboarding. Work with finance to ensure that payroll is accurate and changes are implemented.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING - Develop and manage a comprehensive new employee onboarding program. Create and manage professional development budget. Develop and implement plans for staff development and training including group and individual training, staff retreats, lunch-and-learns and other plans as needs arise. Engage external partners to develop unique training and development solutions that address the needs of the organization. Develop and manage employee recognition programs and development initiatives.
RECRUITMENT AND STAFFING - Collaborate with organizational leadership to identify staffing needs. Working with external consultants as needed, manage the recruiting process cycle, including assisting in creating job descriptions, source candidates, conduct interviews, and onboard new hires. Ensure compliance with employment laws and promote diversity and inclusion throughout the process.

* Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field (or equivalent experience). * 3-6+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist role covering employee relations, and HR operations. * HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred but not required. * Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels. * Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices. * Ability to collaborate with senior leadership and external consultants on complex or high-level HR matters. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including MSWord, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
In addition, the Human Resources Generalist will manage work and relationships with integrity and professionalism; adapt to and support others in adapting to change; be an innovative problem-solver; be a good listener, treating each audience with respect; build strong relationships; and collaborate cohesively across all levels of the organization.
The work of the SGO is conducted primarily in a remote office environment with occasional requirements to be onsite for group meetings and events. Travel is required approximately2-5 days per year.
Compensation and Benefits We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience. The hiring range for this position is $72,000 to $82,000 annually. Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, and short- and long-term disability benefits; vacation time, sick time, 11 named holidays and 3 floating holidays, and parental leave.
