About the role:

We are looking for an HR Adviser to provide Human Resources operational support to Business Units and Functions. The generalist duties for this role provides support to the business across a range of HR processes, policies and programs. Activities include supporting implementation of HR tools, systems, and organization and employee/labour relations queries.

This role is a great opportunity to work with a collaborative team and continue your development as a skilled generalist in a fast paced and challenging work environment. Working and reporting to the HR Manager, you will be:

  • Providing coaching and support to leaders and employees on HR systems, processes, policies, procedures, and programs
  • Advise on human resources policies and procedures, employee relations, performance, labour and regulatory issues.
  • Provides advice, support and coaching in the use of human resources systems (e.g remuneration/benefits, performance management)
  • Partnering with and supporting leaders and HR Business Partners with annual activities as well as helping the business achieve their people resource strategies
  • Providing employee relations support including management of grievances and arbitration files in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Leading change management efforts related to integration of new HR tools and processes
  • Supporting offshore recruiting team and hiring leader with the implementation and improvement of the new recruitment process

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or other combination of education & experience
  • 3-5 years of relevant HR Generalist experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply knowledge of human resources laws & policies
  • Employee Relations experience
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Prior experience working with offshore internal service providers and a shared services environment
  • Prior SAP experience a plus
  • Some level of fluency in French would be an asset.

The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-Îles, Quebec. It also operates a 418 kilometer railroad that links the mine to the port.
