The Opportunity: Head of HR

Reporting to the President and CEO, University Partnerships North America (UPNA), the Head of Human Resources is the most senior human resources leader in the UPNA division (Canada and the US) and a member of the North American Leadership Team (NALT), comprising the CEO and five direct reports. The North America divisional team includes full time (120) and instructional staff of approximately 150 at any one time in Canada and is poised for rapid growth over the next five years. The Head of Human Resources also is involved with the Regional HR team in the hiring of staff overseas.

As the NALT team is located across multiple North American campuses, the Head of Human Resources can be based in any province in Canada within the Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

• The ideal candidate is a business-minded leader who brings 15+ years of progressive HR experience including serving as the most senior HR leader of a division within a large organization. In addition to a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, a Master’s degree and additional professional accreditation are valued. The ideal candidate brings exceptional HR acumen including HR strategy, multi-jurisdictional HR practices, HR business partnership, talent development, total rewards, and diversity, equity and inclusion. This leader has a track record of enhancing employee experience and positioning an organization as an Employer of Choice.

• While experience in the education sector is an asset, the ideal candidate will bring perspective gained through roles in high-growth organizations that have operations in both Canada and the US. In addition, experience in a purpose-driven service organization is highly valued.

• This candidate has strong business acumen and is confident reporting to the President& CEO and serving as a member of the executive leadership team. Seeing the big picture while valuing the details, this leader leverages data analytics/insights to support their recommendations and track their progress. While able to develop a strong HR team, this leader is willing to “roll up their sleeves” to advance key HR initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

• An exceptional relationship-builder with high emotional intelligence, the Head of Human Resources demonstrates flexible and creative problem-solving and negotiating skills, with experience building trusted and collaborative cross-functional relationships with geographically dispersed team members and will be able to inspire others with their passion for Navitas’s purpose of transforming lives through education.
