General Laborer – Port Operations
Location: Port of Virginia
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour (based on shift and experience)
Shift Availability
This position offers all three shifts, Monday through Friday:
1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Overtime, nights, and weekends may be required based on operational needs.
Job Overview
We are currently hiring dependable and safety-focused General Laborers to support daily port operations in Norfolk, VA. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on, physical work and thrive in an active, team-oriented environment. You will assist with cargo preparation, loading and unloading activities, and maintaining safe, efficient port operations.
This position requires comfort working around water, in all weather conditions, and on a flexible schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare cargo for loading and unloading operations
Follow established loading plans and safety procedures
Perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks
Operate small equipment and tools as directed
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Work safely around water, vessels, and port equipment
Qualifications & Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift
Comfortable working outdoors and around water
Strong attention to detail with a safety-first mindset
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver's license
? TWIC CARD REQUIREMENT – MANDATORY
A valid TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) is REQUIRED to work at the port
Applicants must already have a TWIC card OR be willing to obtain one prior to starting employment
TWIC card fees are not provided or reimbursed by the company
Applicants who are unable or unwilling to obtain a TWIC card should not apply.
