Description
Huntington Billboards / Summit Locations are seeking a Human Resources Director to lead and manage all core HR functions for both companies. This role is designed to support a growing organization of approximately 70 employees across multiple states. This is a hands on director position that will need to build a HR department for a 2 tiered company that has grown 30 to 40% the past 5 years.
The ideal candidate would live within driving distance from Gordon Ohio but remote candidates with experience will also be considered.
This position is responsible for HR operations, compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll coordination, policies, and leadership support. Recruitment is part of the role, but it is not the primary focus.
The HR Director will serve as the single point of accountability for HR across both companies.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Administration
Own and manage all day-to-day HR functions for both companies
Maintain employee records, documentation, and HR systems
Ensure consistent HR practices across Huntington Billboards and Summit Locations
Manage HR calendars, deadlines, and reporting requirements
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states
Maintain and update employee handbook, policies, and procedures
Oversee FMLA, ADA, PTO, leave administration, and disciplinary documentation
Serve as the primary resource for employment-related compliance questions
Employee Relations & Performance Support
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and managers on employee issues
Support performance management, corrective action, and terminations
Help managers apply policies consistently and fairly
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all employee matters
Benefits & Payroll Coordination
Administer benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, STD/LTD, 401(k), and PTO
Serve as the main point of contact for employees on benefits questions
Coordinate with payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
Manage annual renewals and vendor relationships
Hiring & Onboarding (Support Role)
Coordinate hiring logistics for approved positions
Manage onboarding, background checks, and new-hire paperwork
Ensure a consistent and compliant onboarding process
Support leadership with recruiting as needed, without owning aggressive sourcing targets
Internal Communication & Culture
Communicate HR policies, updates, and changes clearly and consistently
Support leadership in reinforcing company values and expectations
Help maintain a professional, accountable, and respectful workplace culture
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
5+ years of progressive HR experience
Experience serving as the primary HR lead for a multi-state organization preferred
Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
Experience with benefits administration and payroll coordination
High attention to detail, strong judgment, and discretion
Ability to work independently and hold ownership of outcomes
This is a hands-on HR leadership role focused on protecting the company, supporting employees, and keeping the organization compliant, consistent, and well-run.
