Director of Classification and Compensation
The Director of Classification and Compensation (Director 4) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Kean University's collectively bargained and non-represented classification and compensation programs. Reporting to the Director of Recruiting, the Director will research, plan, implement and direct a wide range of classification and compensation programs designed to support university goals and objectives and position Kean University as an employer of choice.
The Director will organize all classification and compensation initiatives and efforts across the university, ranging from overseeing job classification and the administration of salary structures, pay ranges and compensation programs, to salary survey completion and benchmarking. The Director manages classification and compensation practices for full-time and part-time positions in compliance with university policies, applicable laws and bargaining units; partners closely with HR colleagues and campus stakeholders to support the effective administration of classification and compensation programs; and does related work as required. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and a minimum of two years of professional experience in compensation and classification administration is required. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred. It is also preferred that at least five years of the experience listed above be in higher education or a unionized or collectively bargained environment. Candidate must have demonstrated expertise in job evaluation, salary structures and compensation analysis; strong working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and compensation-related employment laws; excellent analytical and organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations; and proficiency in Microsoft 365. Knowledge of Workday HCM is a plus.

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Law, the annual salary range for this position is: $110,000 to $120,000. This position may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a retirement plan and benefits for work life balance. Employment at Kean requires working at any of our New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites, which may include, but not be limited to: the main campus in Union; Kean Ocean in Toms River; Kean Skylands in Jefferson Township; Kean Jersey City; Kean at Brookdale in Middletown Township; Manahawkin; Princeton; and Trenton. Location assignments will be based on operational and university needs. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
