Description
Adecco is recruiting for a CNC Machine Shop Setup Technician / Machinist for a client in Auburn, NY. This position is temp-to-hire, paying $22 to $30/hour, depending on experience, and offers the opportunity to join a small, growing manufacturing team where hands-on skills and attention to detail truly matter.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with precision equipment, preparing machines for success, and playing a key role in keeping production running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Set up CNC and/or manual machines per work orders, blueprints, and setup sheets
Install, align, and adjust tooling, fixtures, jigs, and workholding devices
Load and verify CNC programs and perform test runs to ensure accuracy
Inspect first-piece parts using precision measuring tools to confirm specifications
Make offsets and setup adjustments to maintain quality and tolerances
Troubleshoot setup-related issues and collaborate with machinists and supervisors
Ensure machines are calibrated, cleaned, and production-ready
Operate machinery as needed to support production goals
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
Document setup changes, tooling usage, and process improvements
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade school preferred)
2+ years of machine shop setup experience or similar role
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and setup documentation
Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
Mechanical aptitude with solid problem-solving skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
CNC setup experience (mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines)
Familiarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or similar
Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment
Work Environment
Manufacturing / machine shop setting
Exposure to moving machinery and metal components
PPE required as applicable
Pay Details: $22.00 to $30.00 per hour
